Hadji was familiarly known by his friends as Ad-jee The A-Rab. He originated from Abu Dhabi but was only involved in the art scene in London in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He was primarily a photographer and performance artist who never exhibited. It is known that he subsequently gave up art to become a carpenter. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Some of his work survives only because it was left in the care of one of his friends. Yet by a curious twist of fate much of the work he produced at that time has since been replicated and presented as original work by a number of major contemporary artists. This will become self evident when you look at the work he produced some 30-40 years ago side by side with what has been presented as new art in the past decade or so.We have annotated the first few pieces, and we leave you to guess about the rest. None of the work is for sale and we apologize for the poor quality of some of the images.
